Baby Hooded Jacket Knitting Pattern with Cables.
Sizes: 62–92 cm (Age: 3–24 months)

Knit this adorable baby hooded jacket for sizes 3 to 24 months. Features diamond and cable patterns, raglan sleeves, and button closure. Perfect for wool, cotton, or acrylic yarn.

🧢 Materials

  • Yarn options (choose one):
    • Schachenmayr Baby Smiles Merino Wool – 7(8/9/10/11/12) balls, blue (01053), 100% wool, 25g = 85m
    • Schachenmayr Baby Smiles Bravo Baby – 4(4/5/5/6/6) balls, blue (01053), 100% acrylic, 50g = 185m
    • Schachenmayr Baby Smiles Cotton – 7(8/9/10/11/12) balls, blue (01053), 100% cotton, 25g = 92m
  • Knitting needles: 2.5 mm and 3 mm
  • Cable needle
  • 5 buttons

🧡 Stitch Guide

Rib: K2, P2 alternately.
Stockinette Stitch: Knit on RS, purl on WS.
Diamond Pattern: Follow Chart A. Repeat 13-stitch repeat across, rows 1–20 in height.
Small Cable: Follow Chart B. Work 2-stitch cable as shown.
Main Cable Pattern: Follow Chart C, 9-stitch repeat, rows 1–8 repeated.

Gauge:

  • Stockinette: 28 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm (3 mm needles)
  • Diamond pattern: 13 sts = 4.2 cm
  • Small cable: 1 cm
  • Main cable: 9 sts = 2.5 cm

Cast on 78(82/86/94/98/106) sts on 2.5 mm needles. Work 3 cm in rib, starting and ending symmetrically.
Switch to 3 mm needles, continue in stockinette, and in the first row decrease 3(2/0/2/1/3) sts evenly = 75(80/86/92/97/103) sts.

Raglan shaping:
At 13(15/17/18/19/20) cm from the cast-on edge, bind off 3(2/2/2/1/1) sts at both edges.
Then decrease 1 st at both sides every 2nd row 22(24/26/28/30/31) times.
When the raglan measures 13(14/15/16/17/18) cm, bind off remaining 25(28/30/32/35/39) sts for the neckline.


🩡 Left Front

Cast on 35(35/38/39/41/41) sts with 2.5 mm needles. Work 3 cm in rib, ending symmetrically.
In the last WS row, increase evenly 9(11/10/12/13/15) sts = 44(46/49/51/54/56 sts).

Switch to 3 mm needles and work pattern as follows:
edge st, 5(7/7/9/9/11) sts in stockinette, 2 sts small cable, 3(3/4/4/5/5) sts stockinette, 13 sts diamond pattern, 3(3/4/4/5/5) sts stockinette, 2 sts small cable, 3(3/4/4/5/5) sts stockinette, 9 sts cable pattern, 2 sts stockinette, edge st.

Raglan shaping:
At 13(15/17/18/19/20) cm, bind off on right edge 3(2/2/2/1/1) sts, then decrease 1 st every 2nd row as per size instructions (approx. 22–31 rows).

Neck shaping:
At 23(26/29/31/33/35) cm, bind off from neckline edge 4(5/6/7/8/9) sts, then 4, 3, and 2 sts in following rows.

Right front: work mirrorwise.


🧦 Sleeves

Cast on 46(50/50/54/54/58) sts with 2.5 mm needles. Work 3 cm in rib.
In last WS row, increase evenly to 53(57/57/61/61/65 sts).
Switch to 3 mm needles and work: edge st, 16(18/18/20/20/22) sts stockinette, 2 sts small cable, 3 sts stockinette, 9 sts cable pattern, 3 sts stockinette, 2 sts small cable, 16(18/18/20/20/22) sts stockinette, edge st.

Increase for sleeve shaping:
Work increases as per size (approx. every 4–6th row) to reach 67(71/77/81/87/91 sts).

Raglan shaping:
At 13(14/15/16/17/18) cm, bind off 3(2/2/2/1/1) sts both sides, then decrease every 2nd row 20(22/24/25/28/29) times.
For neckline, decrease on left side as follows: in every 2nd row 1Γ—10(10/12/12/14/14) sts, 1Γ—7(9/9/11/11/13) sts, 1Γ—2 sts.


🧒 Hood

Cast on 122(122/130/130/138/138) sts with 2.5 mm needles. Work 3 cm in rib, then continue in stockinette on 3 mm needles.
At 15(16/17.5/19/20/21) cm, bind off 4 sts each side, then decrease 1 st each edge every 2nd row 13 times, then bind off remaining sts.


πŸͺ‘ Finishing

Sew raglan seams, side seams, and sleeve seams.

Front bands:
Pick up 67(75/83/87/95/99 sts) along each front edge, work 3 cm rib.
On right band, work 5 buttonholes after 1.5 cm (bind off 2 sts, yo twice).
First hole 3 sts from bottom edge, others spaced 13(15/17/18/20/21 sts) apart.
Bind off all sts loosely.

Sew hood seam, attach hood to neckline aligning front bands. Sew on buttons.
